With the 1813 premiere in Venice, L'Italiana in Algeri became one of Rossini's easrliest successes. The opera is a comedy of a feisty Italian girl turning the tables on her bumbling captors via Rossini’s blend of madness and fun.
The way the music makes the situations come alive is a true example of how Rossini mastered the artform of opera.
This two act opera is sung in Italian with Met Titles in English, German, Italian and Spanish
